Reflecting on Tasha’s Strictly Come Dancing journey:

Tasha Ghouri soared to stardom in 2022, appearing on the UK’s most watched dating show, Love Island. Since being on the show, support for Tasha has only grown, with Tasha now having a platform of 1.4 million followers on her Instagram. Tasha uses her platform very positively, often sharing useful information to raise deaf awareness. In recent months, Tasha has used her platform to ‘normalise deaf accents’, through her Get Ready with Me TikTok which she filmed without her cochlear implant. Tasha has continued to raise awareness through her involvement in Strictly Come Dancing

Since starring on the 22nd series of Strictly Come Dancing, Tasha, and her partner, Alijaz have wowed the judges week in and week out, coming out on top in eight of the show’s initial 11 weeks. The pair were awarded the first 40 of the series for their American Smooth to Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved, which even brought judge Anton Du Beke to tears, recalling that this is “why we dance”.

Beyond the glamour of the ballroom, Tasha’s experience on Strictly has carried an important message centred on breaking stereotypes. The couple’s week 7 performance to What About Us by P!nk was a deeply personal routine, which touched many hearts. The routine expressed her struggles of dealing with cyberbullying after her time on Love Island. Tasha’s vulnerability was admirable and opened up conversations around the country.  The performance was praised for its authenticity, with viewers across the nation calling it one of the most poignant dances in Strictly history. During her time on the show, Tasha has educated so many people through her dances and has been an incredible role model and representative for the deaf community.

Tasha’s involvement in the show and her infectious personality has made her a firm favourite to go on to lift the glitterball trophy. Tasha’s presence on the show has enabled younger people in the deaf community to feel seen and we are certain she is now a role model to many, deaf and hearing.

From all of us here at Signature, good luck Tasha and Alijaz!
