Qualification Specifications 2013 – 14

We are happy to announce that the qualification specifications for 2013-14 (excluding the new Level 3 BSL/ISL) are now available on our website.

The following changes have been made:

Level 1 Award in BSL/ISL

Unit 103 – we have added information to the specification to make it clear that candidates can discuss other familiar environments, activities and other daily routines if they do not go to school, college or work.

Changes have been made to the Assessment Regulations and the use of recording equipment. Suitable equipment now includes:

  • Video recorder
  • DVD recorder
  • Android Tablet that complies with the following specification:
    • 5 or above megapixels
    • sufficient background lighting
    • does not automatically save via media accounts. i.e. itunes or icloud
    • has a locking screen password (DDA)
    • is the property of the centre and not an individual

Android phones are not permitted as suitable recording equipment.

Mini DVs will no longer be accepted. See the Assessment Regulations for more information.

Level 2 Certificate in BSL/ISL

Unit 202 – we have updated the Assessment Regulations to make it clear that if the teacher is not in the viewing frame of the camera during the assessment the candidate will be marked as not assessed.

Changes have also been made to suitable recording equipment. Suitable equipment now includes:

  • Video recorder
  • DVD recorder
  • Android Tablet that complies with the following specification:
    • 5 or above megapixels
    • sufficient background lighting
    • does not automatically save via media accounts. i.e. itunes or icloud
    • has a locking screen password (DDA)
    • is the property of the centre and not an individual

Please note these changes will apply to all assessments that take place on or after 1 September 2013.

There are no changes to any other qualifications.
