We are very pleased to announce that the Signature Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Translation has been accredited by Ofqual. It is available for teaching from 1 September 2011.
The qualification has been approved by CfA and is based on the 2007 National Occupational Standards in Translating. There are five mandatory units, with a total of 850 Guided Learning Hours. This qualification shares a unit with level 6 NVQ Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting.
The units were developed as part of the Deaf Communications Infrastructure Development (DCID). The project brings together a consortium of six public sector and not-for-profit organisations from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to address the critical shortage of communication professionals working with Deaf people to public sector services.
The specification and regulations will be available in our Qualification Specifications area soon. Click here to view.
