Spit the Dummy Meeting Campaigns for Change

The Spit the Dummy campaign offers exciting opportunities for the deaf community.

Signature recently attended a meeting of the campaign group in London. The aim of the campaign is to establish a British Sign Language (BSL) Act to safeguard the rights of Deaf people.

The meeting was held in the Lord Moon pub; just a stones throw away from the corridors of power in Whitehall which the campaign group hopes to access in the near future.

Spit the Dummy already has a Facebook group with over 11,000 members and ambitious plans to empower deaf people by improving their access to opportunity.

The meeting included a lively discussion from the group’s members and a host of deaf sector organisations.

A campaign strategy and a set of broad objectives were agreed and this will be used to drive forward the agenda to change deaf people’s lives for the better.

Spit the Dummy’s campaign is an ongoing one, so watch this space for further updates.
