On 17 September, Signature will be attending a business lunch with Mark Hoban, the Minister of State for Employment. Mark will speak on the youth contract, a UK government initiative aiming to get young people aged 18 to 24 into employment through various incentives for businesses.
The event will take place at Durham New College and will include a talk given by Mark, a question and answer session and an opportunity for networking and interaction with other businesses.
Mark was appointed Minister of State for Employment in September 2012. He is the Conservative MP for Fareham and has an economics degree from the London School of Economics. He was Shadow Minister for Schools from 2003 to 2005 and Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury from 2005 to 2010. In May 2010, he was appointed Financial Secretary to the Treasury.
As Minister of State for Employment Mark is responsible for;
• The work programme, labour market issues and youth unemployment
• Jobcentre Plus and benefits for jobseekers
• Departmental spending and commissioning
• Employers’ issues
• Health and safety executive
• International and european issues
