We are happy to announce the launch of a new Level 6 Certificate in British/Irish Sign Language. Available for teaching now, assessments will be available from September 2019.
We have taken this opportunity to update our Level 6 qualification, primarily due to feedback we received in 2018 from our teachers. Although the feedback we received was generally positive, it provided us with some ideas on how we could improve our Level 6 offering going forward.
Any centre who has already started teaching the Level 6 NVQ qualification and feels they would like to ‘transfer’ to teaching the new qualification, will be able to do this easily.
The structure of the qualification is no longer NVQ based; instead a mixture of internal and external assessments. Candidates will produce a file of evidence to support their learning, and will be required to carry out three Internal and three external assessments at the end of their taught programme.

We know that centres have candidates currently enrolled onto the current Level 6 NVQ Certificate in British Sign Language. To ensure that these candidates have the opportunity to achieve this qualification we will continue to offer this qualification for a certain period of time. Please see below:
· Any Level 6 NVQ candidates who have started the course with your centre but have not yet been registered as a candidate with Signature, must be registered by 31 March 2019.
· Level 6 NVQ candidates who are enrolled by 31 March 2019 will have until May 2020 to have their portfolios Externally Quality Assured for certification.
