Sign Poetry Festival

The University of Bristol Centre for Deaf Studies are set to hold the second Sign Poetry Festival on Saturday 20 February and Sunday 21 February.

The festival has workshops which will explore different areas of sign language poetry together with the Japanese arts of haiku and renga. People attending the workshops will have opportunities to create, practise and perform their own sign poetry in a supportive, encouraging and inspiring environment. Poetry workshops are open to Deaf people age 18 years old and over and will be in British Sign Language.

On Saturday evening there will also be a Sign Poetry Performances by some of England and Europe’s top Deaf poets. The evening is open to anyone interested in sign language poetry and tickets cost just £3. Doors open at 7pm with performances starting at 7.30pm.
