Don't forget there is still time to make your nominations in the category of Learner of the Year in the 2013 Signature Annual Awards.
Whether you are proud of a learner who is studying towards a Level 1 qualification, a Level 6 qualification or anything in between, we want to hear from you. This award recognises the dedication and exceptional commitment of learners, studying our qualifications, to overcome barriers, achieve outstanding results and contribute to the wider community.
Read more about the 2010 Learner of the Year, Kelly Palmer, nominated by Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind People. They found her to be an inspiration to teachers and fellow students when she studied the Signature Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL) with them.
Kelly is a nurse who was inspired to learn British Sign Language whilst caring for a Deaf patient. Since completing her studies she has used her skills on the ward to ensure patients feel comfortable. She also created resource files for her fellow staff members to refer to for help with basic communication if a Deaf person is admitted to the ward.
Kelly's energy is limitless, she volunteers throughout the deaf community and is a member of Kippax Harriers running club, she regularly runs half marathons in aid of various charities.
Kelly said "Winning was the best thing ever. The experience in London was a very special time for myself and my family. The welcome we received was warm and sincere. I still have to pinch myself to believe it happened to me. Thank you Signature for giving me the confidence to continue with my signing so I am able to communicate with the deaf people who come into hospital but encouraging all to involve interpreters."
Tell us about the stars of your classroom who are studying Signature qualifications and using their new skills to help improve the lives of deaf people.
