Following the review of our Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language, we are excited to tell you that we have developed a new qualification.
Earlier this year, we shared with you the outcome of the Level 3 NVQ Certificate in British Sign Language/Irish Sign Language review. It was important for us to get the views of people involved in the qualification, including assessors and learners. We are very grateful to those people who took the time to share their thoughts with us.
Overwhelmingly, the general agreement was for a qualification with more classroom-based teaching. Feedback received suggested candidates found the move from Level 2 to Level 3 difficult and the portfolio-based assessment challenging. Other candidates felt that Level 3 did not prepare them for Level 6.
The qualification takes into account your feedback and an important addition is a much requested unit on sign linguistics knowledge.
The Qualification Specification, Regulations and supporting information will be available on our website from June, ready for delivery from September 2013.
