We were incredibly disappointed to see Schools Minister Nick Gibb’s response to the NDCS’ Right to Sign campaign here.
Although this is not the first time we have seen such a response from the Department for Education, we will not be detracted from our ongoing work to develop (what we hope will become) a GCSE in BSL. While other Signature qualifications are available to students, it’s disappointing that a GCSE in BSL is not receiving the support it deserves from the Government.
Signature firmly believes in the importance of deaf children being able to gain a GCSE qualification in their native language, and more young people being given the opportunity to learn BSL.
