It is with great sadness we have learned that Lady Winifred Tumim has died. As a tireless campaigner for better and more accessible communication with Deaf people, Winifred’s work contributed directly to a more equitable and inclusive society. Over the years Winifred gave her time as a trustee, chair and volunteer with many charities and organisations working with and for Deaf people. Jim Edwards, Chief Executive of Signature said: “Our organisation benefitted greatly from Winifred’s three years as chair of its board of trustees. Her lifelong contribution is immeasurable; her energetic and robust approach will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time.”
The Guardian has published an obituary.
