The Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) have launched a formal consultation exercise on their proposal to establish a Further Education Guild.
The precise details have yet to be finalised. However the Department of Business Innovation and Skills have provisionally indicated that the FE Guild will:
a) Be an employer led partnership that will act as a focal point of further education and skills sector interests.
b) Be governed by an elected board of key stakeholders from the further education sector.
c) Have over arching responsibility for the further education sector and enable colleges to acquire chartered status for the first time.
d) Act both as a regulator and as a voluntary membership organisation.
