This conference will look at the success the DCID project has had in encouraging people from the deaf/hard-of-hearing community to use their sign language as a means to teach others British or Irish Sign Language and how this has encouraged them to begin to build their skills for a career in teaching. The conference will share and disseminate good practice and will also discuss how this work needs to be continued in the future.
Guest speakers will include beneficiaries of the project and representatives from the Governments of Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
Keynote Speaker: Mark Wheatley, Executive Director European Union of the Deaf.
The DCID Project is a project funded by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund through the INTERREG IVA Programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
