Deaf Charity Reveals New Name

Press Release: CACDP has today announced that it will now trade as Signature – excellence in communication with deaf people.

The charity wants to see a society in which deaf people have full access. It operates as the only UK awarding body offering nationally accredited qualifications in British Sign Language and the other accessible communication methods used by deaf people; and administers the recognised professional registers for communication professionals working with deaf and deafblind people.

Announcing the move, Jim Edwards, Chief Executive, said, “We’ve worked hard to renew our focus to make sure we can achieve the aims the charity was established to achieve. We’ve changed significantly over the past year and calling the charity Signature is a natural progression. The choice of how to communicate as a deaf person is intensely personal, an intrinsic part of an individual’s identity. Signature conveys that, embodies our aspirations and values, and is a name with which our stakeholders can really identify.”

Over three decades ago CACDP was founded on principles of partnership. Working with its partners the charity has significantly raised standards in communication with deaf and deafblind people. As Signature it will continue that work.
