The University of Central Lancashire is delivering a course which is open to teachers who teach or wish to teach British Sign Language (BSL). Participants should hold a Level 3 qualification e.g. the Signature Level 3 NVQ in British Sign Language or equivalent.
The (CPD) Applied Sign Linguistics Course will be taught in BSL and with a mixture of block teaching at the university and distance learning at home. Teaching practice will be in your own institution, where you will be supported by supervisors and mentors.
Throughout the course students will gain a greater awareness of the internal structural workings of sign languages. There will be a focus on common linguistic features in sign language and students will apply this knowledge to teaching strategies for both first and second language learners.
