Run by the British Deaf Association, the theme of this year’s Sign Language Week is Sign Language for all. This seems very fitting, especially with everything that is currently going on, and the challenges with are all facing.
Sign Language Week is celebrated each year in March to coincide with the anniversary of the recognition of Sign Language by the British Government in 2003.
If you check out our social media channels, you will find some useful content that you can use throughout the week. Fingerspelling charts, BSL posters and flashcards, deaf awareness tips, and videos to help you practice your skills. Feel free to download and share with your friends, family and colleagues. You can also download them directly from our website here: BSL Resources
It’s hard to believe that twelve months have passed since Sign Language Week 2020! Last year we celebrated by sharing content from our successful 2019 campaign; this included getting celebrities, MP’s and sport clubs to have a go at some basic signing and filming a video for us. Harry Redknapp, Steph McGovern, Paul O Grady, British Airways, INTU and West Ham United are just some of those who got involved.
Our previous Sign Language Week campaigns.
If you are planning on getting involved with Sign Language Week, remember to use #SignLanguageWeek so everyone can see your content, we’ll share as much as we can.
Happy Sign Language Week!
