The Wunderbar Festival

The Wunderbar Festival is inviting Sign Language users to take part as Co-Recitors in a performance.

The performance itself is a collective recitation in Sign Language of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and will take place on Wednesday 2 November 2011, at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead.

Thanks to the United Nation’s UDHR translation project to date more than 300 people have been able to take part in the performance as co-recitors by choosing an Article to recite from memory in the 380+
spoken languages that are available.

The aim Wunderbar Festival is to reverse the usual order of things and present a collective recitation primarily in Sign Languages such as BSL, ISL, SSE.

A text translation will be provided for the hearing audience.

If you would like to take part in the performance please contact the Wunderbar Festival:

During this meeting more will be explained about the UDHR, the Anniversary – an act of memory project, and how the performance will happen.
