Accessible Tech expands with a Signapse and CaptionHub Collaboration

A new collaboration between Signapse and CaptionHub will enable Deaf viewers to have a greater experience due to new market leading technology. The introduction of accessible technology will mean that video content will include captions that can automatically be accompanied by an in-video interpreter in either BSL or ASL. Indeed, this is a big step and milestone towards maximising accessible tech.

CEO of CaptionHub, Tom Bridges, stated, “We are thrilled to join forces with Signapse to bring AI-based sign language capabilities to our platform. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to make video content localised and accessible for our clients. By incorporating Signapse innovative technology, we’re not just adding a feature; we are opening up content to millions of people who wouldn’t previously have had access but also making this step easy for our enterprise client base.”

Will Berry, who is the CRO of Signapse, expressed that: “Many Deaf people struggle with text- 87,000 people in the UK use British Sign Language (BSL) as their first language. By seamlessly integrating our sign language translation with existing CaptionHub features, we are opening up more video content for the Deaf community. This partnership represents a significant leap forward in bridging the communication gap and ensuring that everyone can enjoy and benefit from video content equally.”

Here at Signature, we too recognise the vitality embedded within accessible tech. This form of technology ensures equal access to information and entertainment that is otherwise delivered primarily through audio, or video with no subtitles. Through implementing such innovative technology, video content is made more inclusive through a breakdown of communication barriers. For Deaf viewers, relying on captions is not only tiring but also limiting due to missing out on emotion- something interpreters can convey visually. Having this form of technology will not only enhance a Deaf individual viewing experience but also contribute to their knowledge of popular culture and news.
