The Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) developed a support project with funding from the Skills Funding Agency to improve the ability of post-16 learning and skills providers to recruit and retain d/Deaf learners while improving their attainment levels.

During Prime Minister’s Question Time on 14 July 2011, David Cameron agreed to progress with sign language support for deaf parents and their children after pilot schemes proved to be “a huge success”.
Signature qualifications are reviewed annually. We are working hard to prepare all our qualifications for the 2011/2012 academic year.
As part of this review and the feedback we received, improvements have been made to the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting qualification. The assessment guidance notes have been improved and are now clearer with more detail.
