A helping hand

easy guide to working with us

A helping hand - a guide to our qualifications, our service and the support we offerWe promote excellence in communication with deaf and deafblind people so our vision of a society in which deaf people have full access can become a reality.

There are nearly nine million deaf people in the UK and a shortage of communication professionals like sign language interpreters and speech to text reporters, so studying for our qualifications opens up a range of career opportunities for those who enjoy the challenge of learning new languages and methods of communication.

For more than thirty years we have worked with our partners to encourage greater understanding of deaf and deafblind people, and the role improved communication plays in a more inclusive society. Our contribution is as a recognised awarding body offering nationally accredited qualifications, and as the guardian of the professional communication standards we administer NRCPD, the National Register for Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People.

This guide gives an introduction to our qualifications, our service and the support we offer. Click on the links below to find out more.
