The Joseph Maitland Robinson Award for Outstanding Contribution is our most prestigious award. First given in 1989, the list of recipients reads like a Hall of Fame. There is no shortlist for this award. The award is announced in a slightly different way to our other national awards. The recipient will receive a personal invitation to attend the Signature Annual Awards ceremony in November and the award will be presented to them at the event.

The recipient can be a paid employee, volunteer, campaign worker, or a founder of a company amongst others. If you know someone who would be a worthy recipient of the Joseph Maitland Robinson Award for Outstanding Contribution please tell us about them and their work here by clicking on the link.

History of the Joseph Maitland Robinson Award

The Joseph Maitland Robinson Award has a long history dating back to 1989. The awards were made in honour of our late benefactor Joseph Maitland Robinson who contributed £100,000 to us when our financial future was in considerable doubt. The award was presented to one deaf and one hearing person who have made significant contributions to support our work and aims.

Our Signature Annual Awards give us the opportunity to recognise a wider group of individuals. We now have eight award categories which includes the Joseph Maitland Robinson Award for Outstanding Achievement. This award is now only presented to one individual.
