Learner of the Year Award Criteria

Nominations for this award can come from teachers, centre staff, peers, colleagues, or family and friends. Self nominations are also welcome.

To nominate someone for Learner of the Year, you will need to tell us about them and their reasons for studying for our qualifications. Nominations will be judged on how the nominee has approached the learning environment and used these skills in the wider community.

When completing your nomination, please respond to each of the following sections.

It is important that you answer as many questions, with as much information as possible. Each question will be scored individually.

Section One - About the Learner

Tell us what inspired the nominee to study our qualifications.

Section Two - Dedication to Learning

  • What obstacles, if any, has the nominee overcome to do the course?
  • How have they demonstrated commitment in the classroom?
  • Has the nominee given to their learning and career development a high personal priority?

Section Three - Supporting Others

  • How has the nominee inspired and supported others in their class?
  • Has the nominee contributed to the wider activities and vision of their centre?
  • How has the nominee encouraged others to learn to communicate with deaf and deafblind people?

Section Four - Contribution to the Wider Community

Has the nominee used their newly acquired knowledge and skills in the community - whether through voluntary or paid work? If so, tell us about it here...

Section Five - the Future

Where does the nominee see themselves in the future?
