Awards final for signing teacher
A Doncaster sign language teacher is through to the finals of a national awards ceremony.
Ian Townsley, from Bessacarr, won the award for Teacher of the Year in Yorkshire and the Humber 2010 and he will now progress to the finals of the Signature Annual Awards scheme, which recognises excellence in deaf communications.
Mr Townsley currently teaches British sign language qualifications across the region with his organisation, M2ACE, which he founded in 1999.
Judges at Signature were impressed by Ian's commitment to his students and his involvement with the local deaf community, a spokesman for the awards said.
The ceremony will be held in London on November 12.
