Melanie breaks sound of silence
A Leigh sign language tutor is helping professionals to learn to communicate with deaf people.
Melanie Potts, from Firs Lane, is teaching signing to dozens of health workers, paramedics and lawyers so they can interact with people with hearing problems
Melanie holds classes at schools and community centres across the borough as well as organising her own sign language club.
Her work has been recognised with a second consecutive nomination for this year's Tutor of the Year Award from deaf charity Signature.
