Kelly signs way to help deaf patients

An NHS worker who conquered dyslexia and other personal challenges has won an award for her efforts helping deaf patients.

Kelly Palmer, an occupational therapy support work at NHS Leeds, won the Learner of the Year Award.

Kelly, from Garforth, who suffered dyslexia and low self esteem as a youngster, was working with a deaf patient at Chapel Allerton Hospital when she realised she could help much more by learning British Sign Language (BSL).
