Signs point to Kerry success

Story from Wolverhampton College – A sign language student at City of Wolverhampton College is celebrating after being nominated for a national award because of her dedication to her course.

Kerry Hughes, of Bradmore, has been shortlisted for the Learner of the Year award by Signature, a charity that champions excellence in communication with deaf people. The 28 year old has worked tirelessly to learn both sign language and Braille and is now training to be a teaching assistant.

She said: "I didn’t even know I had been nominated, so to find out I have been shortlisted was a really nice surprise and recognises all the hard work I have put in."
