A lifetime of helping deaf people overcome communication barriers has netted a Swansea women a prestigious award. Lynn Delfosse was given the Joseph Maitland Robinson Award for Outstanding Contribution at the Signature Annual Awards in London on Thursday.
She has enjoyed a long career as an interpreter and has campaigned hard on behalf of the deaf community in Wales. She was instrumental in establishing RNID Cymru, the Wales arm of the Royal National Institute for Deaf People, and also led the BSL Future project, the biggest sign language interpreter training project in Europe.
Jim Edwards, Signature chief executive, said: "Lynn has worked so hard for so many years to help improve the communications skills of both deaf and hearing people across Wales. She thoroughly deserves this recognition and we are all thrilled for her, for RNID Cymru and for everyone she has helped during his careerr."
The Signature Annual Awards aim to recognise the outstanding achievement by those who, in their own way, have made a significant contribution towards a society in which deaf and deafblind people have full access.
