An inspirational Tarnworth man has scooped a prestigious award for his commitment to teaching sign language.
Charlie Butler, aged 59, from the Musical Signers organisation, has come out on top in a regional heat in the Signature Annual Awards scheme and now progresses to the final in London on November 12.
Charlie's approach to teaching includes signed singing which has inspired students, both deaf and hearing, to learn sign language. He also offers classes for local school children. Signature Chief Executive, Jim Edwards, said: "We've been thrilled by the variety of individuals and organisations engaging with the awards scheme and it's fantastic that we are able to provide some recognition for all their hard work.
"Charlie is an inspirational teacher of British Sign Language. His use of signed singing and encouraging manner make his students feel at ease both inside and outside the classroom."
